FAA Mental Health Evaluations for Pilots

FAA Mental Health Assessments

If you're pursuing your pilot's license and dreaming of taking flight in the United States, but apprehensive about how previous mental health diagnoses might impact your journey? I can help!

I help individuals pursue FAA medical clearance by offering comprehensive diagnostic assessments (CDAs), which provide a clear snapshot of your current mental health. Whether you’re an aspiring pilot or a current one navigating a past diagnosis, medication history, or a request from your AME, the assessment gives the FAA the professional documentation it needs. Each assessment includes an intake interview, a review of your history, and a written summary of my clinical findings. If no current diagnosis is present, my report can support your path to clearance. While I can’t guarantee a specific outcome, I provide an honest, thorough, and objective evaluation so you can move forward with confidence.

Who This Is For

Student pilots and current pilots in Idaho, Texas, and California who need mental health documentation for FAA medical clearance. That includes a past diagnosis, a history of medication, or a request from your Aviation Medical Examiner (AME).

How It Works

  1. Fill out the short form so I can make sure we're a good fit.

  2. If we are, you'll pay the $350 fee and get a link to book your time.

  3. We meet for about an hour by video.

  4. Your written assessment arrives as a PDF within 3 days... usually the next day.

If your AME or the FAA has given you specific forms, send them with your intake. I'm happy to complete the documentation you need, within reason and within the scope of my license.

Please Read Before Scheduling

I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, not a psychiatrist or psychologist. Some situations, including certain FAA special issuance cases, require an evaluation from a psychiatrist or psychologist. Before you schedule, please confirm with your AME or the FAA that an assessment from a licensed counselor will meet your requirements.

You're responsible for providing any forms you need completed. The $350 fee covers the assessment and written report, and it isn't refundable if the receiving organization doesn't accept my documentation.
