TRUST THE PROCESS

Coaching/Consulting for Counseling Students in Idaho

in CACREP-Accredited Programs

I PROVIDE CONSULTING FOR STUDENTS IN ADVANCED HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAMS AND COUNSELING STUDENTS FOCUSED ON:

⚖️🧘‍♀️ Fostering Growth as a Person and Professional

🏡🌱  Balancing Work with Internship and Life

💎💯 Adjusting to the Process of Becoming a Practitioner

One of the primary reasons you may not be successful in a counseling program is lack of support: You may feel disconnected from faculty, peers, or the program as a whole, which can lead to feelings of isolation and disengagement….But you’re not alone. I provide support, guidance, encouragement, insight and mentorship to help you flourish

Keeping up with internships and classes can be challenging interpersonally, as you are expected to demonstrate high levels of personal and professional competence while learning new skills, and putting it all together. Counseling school requires you to engage in intensive clinical training, including the development of strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and self-awareness, which can be a lot all at once. You may be struggling to make sense of the interpersonal dynamics of your program, which can be particularly tough when you’re trying to develop effective clinical skills and build professional relationships

GET ADDITIONAL SUPPORT AND NAVIGATE A PATH TO BECOMING THE BEST COUNSELOR POSSIBLE!

I want to help you ensure that you successfully complete your program and are well-equipped to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and thrive in your counseling careers. I’m here to join you because you’re not alone; you can complete your plan of study, licensing requirements and start making sense of things. I’ll encourage you to focus on simply becoming the best possible counselor you can be, so that you enter the job market ready and confident to see paying clients.

LEARN TO ALLOW FOR AMBIGUITY

I can help you accept the gray area of your program, and we’ll discuss why accepting ambiguity is crucial for counseling and for life. Learning to roll with the punches promotes flexibility and adaptability, avoids imposing biases onto clients; it promotes deeper understanding within, empathy towards others, and encourages creativity and innovation in the counseling process. When you take your process one step at a time, you become more effective, more compassionate, more open-minded and you’ll be ready to adjust your approach to meet clients' needs.

TO SUCCEED IN A COUNSELING PROGRAM, STUDENTS NEED A COMBINATION OF PERSONAL QUALITIES, SKILLS, AND RESOURCES:

  • ⭐️ Resilience: The capacity to cope with stress and adversity is critical in counseling, where students may encounter confusing situations and clients

  • ⭐️ Support system: Having a supportive network of family, friends, colleagues and mentors is essential to succeed in counseling

  • ⭐️ Supervision and mentorship: Access to effective supervision and mentorship from experienced professionals is essential for developing clinical skills and navigating the challenges of counseling work

  • ⭐️ Self-awareness: A strong sense of self-awareness is the hallmark of success in counseling, as it allows students to reflect on their own biases, emotions, and limitations

  • ⭐️ Interpersonal skills: Effective communication, active listening, and conflict resolution skills are essential for navigating the interpersonal dynamics of counseling

  • ⭐️ Self-care: Prioritizing self-care is essential for avoiding burnout and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

KATHARINE’S EXPERIENCE

I am an LPC in Texas, an LCPC in Idaho, a Supervisor in Idaho, and I’ve been on the Supervisor’s List in Idaho since 2016. I attended the Counseling Program at Idaho State University when it was operating at the highest levels of counselor education (2010-2012.)

Nearly every faculty member I worked with had been President of the American Counseling Association at one time or another. I studied with award-winning doctoral candidates and learned so much from my time in graduate school, even when I wasn’t being the perfect student! I understand the rigor and ambition required to complete a CACREP-accredited counseling program, and I hope to demystify the process for you a bit.

I’m currently offering 1:1 in-person sessions in Boise or Video Sessions. Sign up below for a FREE, 15-minute phone or video introduction so we can talk about what you’ve been going through and how working with me can help!
