Be Conscientious, but Not Worried–Finding Balance as an Art

Is your worry leading to self-destruction? You’re always trying to think ahead, desperately clinging to a future-focus, and trying to “prevent bad things from happening” . . . ?

Consider the value of dropping the wasted energy and finally admitting to yourself that what you’re doing is simply ineffectual and not achieving a thing.  Do this first, and you’ll be free to take the next steps.

You may notice yourself being intense about everything but still getting nowhere. . . so you have to stop long enough to pause and regroup.

Is all the drama really worth it?

Is it productive / constructive / useful-in-any-way?  Probably not.

Realize that spinning your wheels because you think society expects it of you is actually achieving the opposite of what you want.

In this way, overachievers often become defeated underachievers because Perfectionism may get you good grades but it has no place in the real world.

If you’re not moving in baby steps and blocks, if you’re not allowing for imperfect efforts and down days, then you’re just being realistic. So if you’re determined to stall out until you can do things perfectly, and you’re committed to doing nothing at all until that happens . . . guess what?

Yup, you’re Still. Going. Nowhere.

Try to remember: Failing is a part of the process of life. Failure is part of every endeavor, and every valuable lesson.  Failure is a part of everyone.  Get used to it! And accept it. Or stay stuck, the choice is yours.
